Senior Lab Administrator
Ali started at Duke in 2018, assuming the role of management of The Foundry and working with the First-Year Design Course. Ali has a B.S. in Engineering: Materials Science from Olin College of Engineering.
Previously a Research Technician at the University of Memphis, Ali has plenty of experience repairing equipment, teaching student labs, and setting up makerspaces. Before that, she made membranes for fuel cells (fun stuff!) as a Research Engineer. With all of this talent, she has easily transitioned with FYD, mentoring and assisting teams in making their projects a reality. Ali also works with the student organizations that are housed in The Foundry.
When Ali’s not at work, she spends most of her time with Sully, her Belgian Malinois, participating in a dog sport called Schutzhund (tracking, protection, and obedience). She also likes hiking, knitting socks, playing the ukulele, and throwing pottery
Fun Facts? Ali was the first Mississippian to attend Olin. She went to boarding school. And, super fun fact, she was the Easter Bunny at the most popular Easter egg hunt in her hometown.
